Rick Murcar is the lead instructor at Genesis Defence Institute, with over 30 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces and experience in law enforcement. He is trained in multiple firearms and weapons systems. He is a two-time recipient of a Commander’s Commendation for his work in training systems analysis, curriculum development, and practical skills implementation. Rick specializes in active shooter response, church security, executive protection fundamentals, and use of force training. Known for his patience and professionalism, he works with students at all levels ensuring concepts are understood and skills are developed with confidence and consistency. At Genesis Defence Institute, his focus is simple: To deliver training that is practical, responsible, and grounded in real-world application.
